These are very warm and seem to be of very good quality and are a terrific concept. Before ordering these I wasn't too sure that I would like the thumb not being able to be uncovered as well, but the padded material on the thumb (and palm), despite being a smooth and soft material, doesn't negatively effect grip and is thin enough to still allow plenty sensitivity of touch through it. They also have a drawcord and barrel lock on the wrist that I was unaware of since I purchased the ACU version which show a different profile... but being snug is always appreciated. I also wasn't sure if the retractable mitten top was able to be secured or if it just flopped around or what. They're permanently attached and fold back to latch open via velcro, so no complaints there. When the mitten is closed it makes a tight fit... there shouldn't be any snow or dirt getting up in to your fingertips. The inner lining of the gloves also seem like they would do a fair job at keeping your hands dry if the gloves should get wet, but I haven't tested this theory. The innermost lining is full of holes like a sports jersey--presumably for breathability.

You can see in the photo that there's loops between a couple of the fingers to assist in removing the gloves. Personally I happen to HATE them. They feel like intruders (like an insect or something) constantly making their presence known. I'm going to try to get used to it, but in the end I'm fairly sure I'll cut them off because I don't like feeling wiggly things between my fingers distracting me. They are my only complaint but they are a mixed blessing. It IS nice being able to remove the gloves with a quickness should it be necessary. I really hope I can get use to them because they are a nice concept but they're too in-the-way for me at the moment.
